Chandigarh - Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala has directed the Chairmen of all Zila Parishads, Additional Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of the Zila Parishads to submit utilization certificates and estimated costs of watershed, cattle house, Village Development Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) works done under MGNREGA during the year 2020-21 to headquarters within a week.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala was presiding over a review meeting with the officers of the districts through video conferencing here today.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that a good job of preventing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in rural areas has been done by the District Administration alongwith the regional officers of the department and asked them to continue to create awareness about the need to comply with social distancing norms and staying safe at home for the duration of the lockdown period.
The Deputy Chief Minister also informed the officers through video conferencing that the State Government has adequate availability of hydroxychloroquine and sanitizers. He said that there will be no shortage of sanitizer.
He said that as per the advice of the medical authorities, in every village, sanitization will be done in 2 to 3 phases. He said that an amount of Rs. 20,000 each has already been released to the Panchayats for sanitization works and apart from this the Government has provided a separate budget for COVID-19 to all the Deputy Commissioners.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that in some districts, women self-help groups have done a great job of making masks and PPE kits, so the officers should ensure that these masks are used to fulfill the demand of hospitals and District Administration. He said that the Zila Parishad that is willing to provide ventilator or Hydroxychloroquine tablets to the district administration with its funds can inform the headquarters and their proposal can be considered.
The Deputy Chief Minister has also directed the officers not to make COVID-19 should not be an excuse to delay tasks of their department. He also indicated that the upcoming Panchayat elections will be held on schedule, for which the officers should start their preparations.
Mr. Dushyant Chautala also directed the officers to send a list, of any Sarpanch, Chairman of Block Committee, Chairman and Member of Zila Parishad, who were creating awareness about COVID-19 or providing ration and food and providing sanitizers, to the headquarters every week. He said that such people will also be honored in the coming time.
He told the officials that for the first time the work of construction of cattle shed has been included in the MNREGA works and they should make people aware about it. He said that keeping in mind the lockdown guidelines, permission to operate brick kilns, starting of production with limited number of workers in factories and activities related to employment and livelihood will be started in a phased manner as per the guidelines of Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Director, Rural Development Department, Mr. Hardeep Singh and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
