 आवास और शहरी मामलों के राज्‍यमंत्री श्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी ने कहा है कि केन्‍द्रीय लोक निर्माण विभाग (सीपीडब्‍ल्‍यूडी) के समक्ष अभी से लेकर 2030 तक हर साल 700 से 900 मिलियन वर्ग मीटर शहरी स्‍पेस का निर्माण करने का सुअवसर है जो हरित, लचीली और पारिस्थितिक रूप से दीर्घकालिक होगा। उन्‍होंने कहा कि इसका मतलब भारत को हर साल एक नए शिकागो का निर्माण करना है।

  प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी की अध्‍यक्षता में केन्‍द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने अमृतसर, बोध गया, नागपुर, सम्‍बलपुर, सिरमौर, विशाखापट्टनम और जम्‍मू स्थित सात नए आईआईएम के स्‍थायी परिसरों की स्‍थापना और उनके संचालन तथा कुल 3775.42 करोड़ रूपये के पुनरावर्ती खर्च (2999.96 करोड़ रूपये गैर-पुनरावर्ती और 775.46 करोड़ रूपये पुनरावर्ती खर्च) को मंजूरी दे दी है।
